Four Days Regional Championship Documentation

Just like what I'd mentioned before; I participated a Regional Fencing Championship that was held in Probolinggo few days ago. It started from May 24th and ended at 26th.
Thus, we (the Malang athletes), went to Probolinggo at May 23rd. We gathered at Vita's house at 9.00 am, and departed at 10.00 am.

Day One

We arrived at Probolinggo at 12.00 am. Our coach didn't eventually looking for a place to stay in, but rather he headed us to a house of a friend of his, which was a fencing athlete too.
The house was big and fancy. It's so obvious that this "coach's friend" is a rich man.
But our attention was mostly drawn to a big frame stuck at the wall of the living room. 36 medals were displayed inside the frame. Some were gold, some were silver, some were copper. In the middle of them, there was a picture of  2 athletes doing a match.
We gaped in awe.

Oh, just when I could have just one of those medals...

Lucky or not?

I accidently skipping school today.

Yesterday, I submitted a letter requesting my dispensation from school starting the date May 22th until 27th, because I will be participating in the Regional Championship tomorrow onwards. But it actually supposed to be May the 23rd, not 22th.
Realizing that, I just laughed. This is my big chance of skipping school without being sanctioned.

No.
I'm not skipping. I'm dispensed.

From an Hour Janitor to Buying Perfumes

The title says it all.

What a long day.
I was helping the librarian in my school cleaning the library at the 9th lesson hour. I actually was supposed to attend the art class--karawitan in the hall, but the hall was being used at that time. The art class was canceled. So there I was, having my 1 and half  hour free time.

There was nothing to do, so I decided to spend my free time in the library.

When I walked to the library, I thought it was closed because the door was shutted out. But then I was peeking in by the window, and saw the librarian doing the cleaning of the tables.

"So the library is closed now, Miss?" I asked.
"Well, yeah, we are in the middle of cleaning it up. What are you doing here?"
"Umm, well, just having nothing to do-..."
"OHH, IS THAT SO??"
And she suddenly opened the door for me.
"Here, help me clean the windows and tables." said her by giving me a piece of cloth and glass soap.
"....Sure."

And I just followed her order to clean off the library.

Duster, cloth, glass soap...

Madame Wita, my French teacher, saw me helping the cleaning, and started to tease me around.
"Hey Masfi, you sure you already wiped this part? It's still dusty. Do it again."
I was just chuckled.
Doing the cleaning wasn't so bad.

Oh, and I met Sensei Lucy too, the Japanese teacher. She asked me to discuss about the planning to go out having fun with the friends at the certificate lesson. It's to celebrating the victory of our school, SMAN 5 Malang, as the overall champion in the IT8.

Nearly an hour has passed. The library was cleaned off, and the school time was almost over.
I excused myself to Madame Wita and Miss Librarian.

After school, I went to Dodikjur to doing my fencing practice. But there wasn't any practice. Mr Pieter, the coach, gathered us together and talked about the Regional Championship that will be held few days ahead. I'm participating too, though I'm still that one of the weakest athlete...
He told us to be prepared physically and mentally. And ordered us to clean up the equipments and packing them up.

After done, we finally can go home. I went home by riding with my senior, Andre. Andre-senpai told me that he wants to buy perfume first, and asked me if it was ok. I answered sure, I wasn't in a hurry.
And then he brought us to a little perfume shop at the roadside.

Why I Love Cemetery Ground

Cemetery ground, aside from its function for burying dead people, is very nice place I think.
It's green.
It's peaceful.
It gave the calm atmosphere.
It's far from the noise of the crowds.

Even though for some people it mostly gives the goosebumps, well, not for me.
The trees, the plants, the smell of the Cambodia flowers...They're all really nice.

When I enter the ground, I always say the greetings, for the 'people' that might also live on that ground. It's just that we can't see them.
There must be times when someone went panic or scared when they were left alone on that ground, thinking that something 'invisible', a scary being is watching you. Or... want to disturb you.
But hey, we're the one who came to visit. It's their 'home', and we're the guest! Of course, by the social etiquette, it is a must to greet the one we will come to visit.

Beberapa Alasan untuk Memilih OS X Mountain Lion Ketimbang Windows 8

1. Kurva Belajar/Learning Curve

Hampir semua orang yang telah menggunakan Windows 8 sejauh ini telah mengeluhkan bahwa untuk menguasai operating system Windows 8 pembelajarannya terlalu rumit. Itu adalah sebuah masalah. Sedangkan konsumen telah mengeluarkan banyak uang untuk membeli sebuah produk, tentu saja mereka ingin menggunakan produk tersebut seefektif mungkin dari awal. Hal ini mungkin memang tidak bisa dilakukan pada Windows 8, tapi mereka bisa melakukannya dengan Mountain Lion.

2. Microsoft Terlalu Sering Mencoba Hal Baru

 Microsoft sedang mencoba membuat Windows 8 menjadi hal yang sangat baru, yang berbeda dari sebelumnya. Seperti yang sudah-sudah, saat perusahaan mereka melakukan itu. Microsoft bisa mendapat masalah. Ingat saat masa-masa Windows Vista dan seri pertama Windows Phone dirilis? Microsoft membutuhkan waktu yang tidak sedikit untuk bisa mengantarkan 'pengalaman baru' pada pelanggan. Apple, sementara itu, tidak perlu melakukan itu.

3. Corporate World Belum Bersedia untuk Menyebarkan Windows 8

Dunia perusahaan (Corporate World) belum bersedia untuk menyebarkan Windows 8. Bahkan, beberapa studi telah menunjukkan bahwa perusahaan bahkan tidak akan mempertimbangkan penggelaran sistem operasi hingga 2014. Kenapa? Perusahaan ingin menunggu untuk melihat masalah apa saja yang akan timbul. Dengan OS X Mountain Lion, sebagian besar masalah sudah dikenali, membuat sistem operasinya menjadi pilihan yang lebih baik bagi perusahaan yang ingin membeli komputer baru sekarang dan bersedia untuk mengatasi kekurangan pemasukan.

4. Aplikasi yang Lebih Banyak

Kondisi aplikasi pada Windows 8 tidak terlalu bagus. Menurut laporan, sekarang ini Microsoft menawarkan kurang dari 8000 aplikasi pada Windows 8. Pasaran Apple bisa dengan mudah mengalahkan angka tersebut. Sampai app store milik Microsoft bisa menandingi Apple, akan lebih baik untuk memilih Mac saat ini.

Mac OS X Lion... Apa itu?

Mac OS X Lion (versi 10.7) adalah rilis Mac OS X yang kedelapan yang meminjam banyak idenya dari iOS. Preview Lion ditampakkan pada publik pada 20 Oktober 2010, dan rilis finalnya dilakukan di Mac App Store pada 20 Juli 2011. Apple melaporkan ada lebih dari 1 juta penjualan Lion di hari pertama rilisnya.

Apple tidak memfasilitasi distribusi media fisik seperti CD-ROM atau DVD-ROM untuk Lion. Lion hanya bisa didapatkan dengan cara mengunduh dari Mac App Store dengan harga $29.99. Lion hanya bisa diinstal pada komputer dengan sistem operasi Snow Leopard. Itu artinya setiap komputer dengan sistem operasi Tiger atau Leopard harus terlebih dahulu diupgrade ke Snow Leopard, untuk baru kemudian diupgrade ke Lion. Namun kemudian Apple mengeluarkan mekanisme distribusi melalui USB Flash Drive yang berisi OS Lion, dengan harga US $69, yang tersedia hanya di toko online Apple semenjak Agustus 2011.

Lion memiliki 250 gaya dan fitur baru, yang beberapa di antaranya semisal:

• Menggunakan Address Book bergaya tampilan iPad.
• Fitur berbagi file antar Mac bersistem operasi Lion dengan AirDrop tanpa membutuhkan Wireless Access Point.
• Apple Push Notification Service untuk perbaruan berita atau perbaruan status jejaring sosial.
• Auto correction yang bekerja seperti perangkat iOS, yakni menampilkan kotak pop-up.
• Auto Save - Sama seperti di iOS, dokumen di iOS akan tersimpan secara otomatis sehingga pengguna tidak perlu lagi menyimpan dokumen secara manual. Menariknya, fitur auto save ini tidak bisa dinon-aktifkan.
• FaceTime sudah menjadi fitur terintegrasi di dalam Lion.
• Tampilan full screen atau layar penuh untuk aplikasi.
• iChat diperbarui sehingga bisa digunakan untuk login ke Yahoo! Messenger.
• Launchpad - Peluncur aplikasi yang menampilkan gaya mirip iOS untuk menampakkan aplikasi yang terinstal. Sama seperti di iOS, launchpad juga memiliki kemampuan untuk menggolongkan aplikasi ke dalam folder.
• Mail 5 - Menggunakan tampilan mirip iPad, dengan tampilan layar penuh, menggunakan model percakapan kronologis untuk menata percakapan, dan mendukung Exchange 2010.

Sulitnya Bahasa (part 1)

Nanda hanya bengong menatap PR Bahasa Inggrisnya yang tergeletak di meja. Siang tadi dia baru saja diomeli Mama karena nilai bahasa Inggrisnya di rapor mendapat nilai merah. Iya, bahasa Inggris. Diantara semua mata pelajaran yang tertulis di rapor Nanda, cuma bahasa Inggris yang nilainya paling rendah.

Nanda memang paling tidak suka akan pelajaran yang satu ini. Baginya, bahasa Inggris itu sangat sulit! Kadang-kadang dia suka mengomel sendiri tentang kenapa harus bahasa Inggris yang jadi bahasa internasional, bukannya bahasa Indonesia yang jadi bahasa sehari-harinya. Ayah yang sedang membaca koran terkekeh mendengar omelan putrinya itu.
